Defiance canceled by Syfy, No season 4
2015-10-16 by thepoperopeDefiancediscuss
thr reported:

The futuristic drama, from showrunner Kevin Murphy and starring Grant Bowler and Julie Benz, ended its third season Aug. 28 with 1.17 million total viewers after notching a string of series lows. The overall third-season average of 1.12 million total viewers is down a far cry from both its freshman and sophomore runs. At the time of its debut, Defiance was Syfy's second-largest series premiere in network history and was a proven performer on Monday nights among adults under 50.

Syfy and UCP parent NBCUniversal made a historic $100 million gamble on Defiance when it debuted in 2013 as the first TV series and video game to launch in tandem. The experiment created the most expensive series in the cable network's history at the time with an equally pricey massively multiplayer online video game. The series needed both viewers and gamers to invest time in both in order to justify the franchise's future.

"Defiance was a truly groundbreaking series, delivering an immersive, cross-platform experience that transcended the television screen in a way that viewers had never seen before," the network said in a statement. "We are incredibly proud of the work of the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers â€" and especially showrunner Kevin Murphy â€" who together brought the rich world of Defiance to life over its three-season arc."

Dominion canceled by Syfy, No season 3
2015-10-14 by thepoperopeDominiondiscuss
"Syfy has cancelled fantasy drama "Dominion" after two seasons, Variety has learned. The supernatural series, inspired by the 2010 film "Legion," just wrapped its sophomore season early this month.

Airing on Thursdays this summer, "Dominion" averaged a mere 0.25 rating in adults 18-49 and 880,000 total viewers in same-night viewing â€" down about 40% from its rookie season in 2014. Its second-season finale on Sept. 24 averaged 520,000 adults 18-49 (0.41 rating) and 1.19 million total viewers in Nielsen's "live plus-3" estimates.

"Led by Vaun Wilmott, the talented cast, producers, writers and crew of 'Dominion' have done a tremendous job bringing this ambitious, cinematic series to the screen over the past two seasons. We thank them, as well as our producing partners Universal Cable Productions, Bold Films and Film Afrika," Syfy said in a statement."

Beauty and the Beast canceled, No season 5
2015-10-13 by thepoperopeBeauty and the Beastdiscuss
The upcoming 4th season with 13 episodes will be the last, Deadline reported.

"After beating the odds for a couple of years with surprising renewals, the CW's Beauty And The Beast will end its run with the upcoming 13-episode fourth season, which is wrapping production next month.

The supernatural procedural starring Kristin Kreuk and Jay Ryan scored a Season 4 pickup before its third season had premiered this past summer. Its final season may also get a summer run or could air in midseason, with both scenarios mulled by the CW brass.

Despite its soft linear ratings â€" Season 3 averaged a 0.2 in 18-49 Live+same day, down from Season 2 â€" Beauty And The Beast has done well online and has been a solid international seller for its studio, CW sibling CBS TV Studios. Plus, Beauty And The Beast, a remake of the 1987 series, had been a sentimental favorite of CW boss Mark Pedowitz as it was one of the very first concepts he pursued after taking the reins of the network in 2011."

Person of Interest canceled by CBS (Not official yet)
2015-10-12 by thepoperopePerson of Interestdiscuss
The upcoming shortened season 5 will be the last of Person of Interest season on CBS

"Michael Emerson (Harold Finch) has confirmed the CBS cancellation of Person of Interest after Season 5.

Speaking at New York Comic-Con, the actor said the upcoming 13-episode fifth season will indeed be the last on CBS, though, as previously noted, he holds out hope that another outlet will resurrect the show for Season 6.

It had been hoped that an upturn in ratings, spurred in part by the show's recent release on Netflix, could persuade the CBS powers that be to keep POI for Season 6.

However, judging by Emerson's comments, minds have already been made up â€" though as you might expect, CBS has yet to make an official announcement.

Of course, things can change and given that Season 5 is likely to leave the story open to some extent, there's still the possibility that Netflix or another platform could save the day. Stay tuned…"

Extant has been canceled by CBS

Glenn Geller, president of CBS Entertainment, said:

"CBS, Halle Berry and the producers have decided to conclude the Extant story after last season's exciting and fitting conclusion. Extant played an important role in expanding CBS's lineup of original scripted programming in the summer. We are proud of the show's success on the network, as well as its popularity on Amazon Prime Video. We also want to thank the incomparable Halle Berry for her commitment and support for the series, and look forward to working with her on our next project together."

Said Berry:

"I am so proud of what we accomplished on Extant. This season seemed such a natural place to end Molly's journey that I, along with CBS, felt it best served the story to leave it there. I've loved this experience working with such a talented cast and creative team. It was my first foray into episodic television, and I'm excited to continue my relationship with CBS, producing more compelling stories through my 606 Films production banner."
