Cable's Hot New Fantasy-Adventure Show Reaches 11.4 Million Viewers Each Week

TNT has renewed its hit fantasy-adventure The Librarians. One of the hottest new shows on cable, The Librarians burst onto the scene with a chart-topping launch in December and went on to finish the year as basic cable's #2 new series of 2014, second only to TNT's The Last Ship.

The show's success extends across TNT's multiple platforms, with each week's episode reaching an average of 11.4 million viewers through linear telecasts, DVR playback and VOD, digital and mobile viewing. TNT has ordered 10 episodes for the second season, which is slated to launch later this year.

Based on TNT's hit movie franchise, The Librarians centers on an ancient organization hidden beneath the Metropolitan Public Library dedicated to protecting an unknowing world from the secret, magical reality hidden all around. Rebecca Romijn (X-Men), Christian Kane (TNT's Leverage, Angel), Lindy Booth (Dawn of the Dead, The Philanthropist) and John Kim (Neighbors, The Pacific) star in the series as the newest protectors of the world's mystical treasures, with Emmy® winner John Larroquette (Night Court, Deception) as their reluctant caretaker. Noah Wyle (Falling Skies, ER) recurs as Flynn Carsen, the role he played in TNT's movie trilogy.

The Librarians is produced by Electric Entertainment, with executive producers Dean Devlin, John Rogers, Marc Roskin and Noah Wyle.

The longest-running drama on television set to enter its 17th season in the fall, "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" is averaging a 2.5 rating, 7 share in 18-49 and 9.5 million viewers. That matches the show's highest 18-49 rating at this point in the season in four years (since earning a 2.8 in 2010-11). In total viewers, "Law & Order: SVU" is up +10% this season versus last (9.5 million vs. 8.7 million), and is delivering its biggest overall audience at this point in the season in six years (since averaging 10.5 million in 2008-09).

Also from Universal Television and Wolf Films, "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," chronicles the life and crimes of the Special Victims Unit of the New York City Police Department, an elite squad of detectives who investigate sexually based crimes.

The series stars Emmy and Golden Globe winner Mariska Hargitay as Sgt, Olivia Benson, acting commander of the SVU. Also starring are Ice-T, Danny Pino, Kelli Giddish, Raúl Esparza and Peter Scanavino.

A Friday night success story, "Grimm" has averaged a 2.1 rating, 7 share in adults 18-49 and 7.2 million viewers overall so far this season, making it Friday's #1 scripted series in 18-49 on the Big 4 networks. "Grimm" is one of the most time-shifted shows on broadcast television, with its originals growing by an average of +83% going from "live plus same day" Nielsens to "live plus seven day."

"Grimm" is inspired by the classic Grimm Brothers' fairy tales. The series stars David Giuntoli as Portland homicide detective Nick Burkhardt, who discovers he's descended from an elite line of criminal profilers known as Grimms and increasingly finds his responsibilities as a detective at odds with his new responsibilities as a Grimm.

Boosted by its Feb. 2 post-Super Bowl telecast, "Blacklist" currently ranks #2 among Big 4 entertainment program this season in adults 18-49 behind only CBS's "Big Bang Theory" and is the #4 entertainment series in total viewers. "The Blacklist" delivers the biggest average increase in television of time-shifted viewers going from next-day "live plus same day" ratings to "live plus seven day" results, increasing by 6.3 million viewers.

"The Blacklist" stars Emmy Award winner James Spader as ex-government agent Raymond "Red" Reddington, formerly one of the FBI's Most Wanted fugitives. Brokering shadowy deals for criminals across the globe, Red was known by many as "The Concierge of Crime" and now the FBI work for him as he identifies a "blacklist" of politicians, mobsters, spies and international terrorists. He will help catch them all… with the caveat that Elizabeth "Liz" Keen (Megan Boone) continues to work as his partner.

FOX has renewed hit drama series EMPIRE for a second season, it was announced today by Dana Walden and Gary Newman, Chairmen and CEOs, Fox Television Group.

In the next all-new episode of EMPIRE, "The Devil Quotes Scripture," airing Wednesday, Jan. 21 (9:01-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX, the Lyons head to Philadelphia for Bunkie's funeral and get a taste of what their life could have been if Lucious (Terrence Howard) hadn't made it big. Then, Lucious promotes Hakeem's (Bryshere Gray) new relationship with hip-hop star Tianna (guest star Serayah), but tensions rise when another woman tries to catch Hakeem's eye. Supermodel Naomi Campbell, Academy Award winner Cuba Gooding, Jr. ("Jerry Maguire") and music legend Gladys Knight guest-star.

Averaging a 5.3 rating in Nielsen's Most Current measure, EMPIRE has emerged as the No. 1 new series of the season. Following its second episode, it is the only new broadcast drama this season to grow from week one to week two.

Season-to-date, BROOKLYN NINE-NINE is averaging a 2.7/7 in Viewers 18-49, up +17% in the key demographic versus last season, and generating the largest year-to-year gains of any sophomore series. Additionally, the series' Jan. 4 broadcast delivered a Live +3 rating of 3.6/9 in Adults 18-49, the show's highest Live +3 rating of the season.

In "Defense Rests," the next all-new episode of BROOKLYN NINE-NINE, airing Sunday, Jan. 25 (8:30-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX, Sophia's (guest star Eva Longoria) job gets in the way of her relationship with Jake (Andy Samberg), so Jake tries to smooth things over with her boss (guest star Chris Parnell, "Archer"). Meanwhile, Wuntch (guest star Kyra Sedgwick) needs Holt's (Andre Braugher) help for a job recommendation.
